Study access

Research access and operations.

Practical boundaries for investigators evaluating MedBug for multi-night studies. Terms are discussion-stage and confirmed per collaboration.

Who can enquire

Researchers and clinical collaborators working on sleep, breathing, ventilation, respiratory effort, vital signs, or related overnight physiology — especially protocol-driven multi-night studies. Technology partners may also enquire about interfaces and data outputs.

Geography

Available for studies worldwide, including remote sites. Kits can be shipped by post; on-device storage covers multi-month recording where network access is limited or unreliable. Research coordination is based at Flinders University / FHMRI Sleep Health (South Australia).

Typical study scale

Common entry point: pilots of about 10–30 participants over multiple nights. Larger cohorts (50–100+) are discussed once endpoints and ethics pathways are clear.

Data delivery

Expect reports and data exports within about 2 weeks after complete, quality-checked recordings are received. Daily reporting is available and can be enabled by discussion — useful when studies need ongoing visibility rather than an end-of-study pack only.

Technical requirements

Bedside mattress placement (tested on a range of mattress types and firmness, including air mattresses). Power: 5V mains or a standard battery pack (~3 nights). Network/cloud is needed for sync and clock time; offline, data still backs up on-device for up to several months, but live upload and time sync will not work. Data ownership stays with the study per the collaboration agreement; exports may include CSV/JSON, plots and PDF summaries.

Costs

For small-scale pilots, investigators pay for hardware; analysis and reporting are provided at no cost. Larger studies are scoped case by case. To try the system, one loan unit is available free of charge with reporting for up to 4 weeks of study data.

What this is not

Not a consumer product, not a clinical diagnostic service, and not a medical device offering. MedBug is a research-grade, high-fidelity sensing system for protocol-driven multi-night studies.
